With the service from one marina to the next varying drastically it’s no wonder so much emphasis is often put on marina selection.

The first step to finding the ideal Marina to suit your specific needs is to select a location. Finding a holdings company with multiple marina locations in your local area will guarantee you the ability to seek service with more convenience and readily available options than a single marina.

Considering the location of your potential marina is a topic of key interest as well. A holdings company with multiple marina locations will offer you more variety and options when it comes to docking your watercraft and more accessibility to various locations and ports.

Many marinas will have size restrictions or requirements and will only service certain categories of watercraft. Asking in advance and understanding the specs of your particular vessel will save you a great deal of frustration in the long run.

Many marinas will offer onsite watercraft maintenance and repair. Finding a marina with a capable and knowledgeable staff with the skills and experience to provide adequate care and service for your watercraft under any circumstance is a critical element to ensuring the security of your boat or yacht.

In addition to the needs of your boat or yacht, many marinas will offer a variety of aesthetic comforts such as food, showers and televisions. Perhaps not the most essential features of a marina, these basic comforts can enhance your overall boating experience and be the perfect way to start or end a day on your yacht or boat.

As any well versed boat or yacht owner can assure; the Yacht Slip you choose to dock with is crucial to the overall enjoyable experience of your Floating Dock Rental can be deeply affected by the quality of service at your marina of choice. Boat Marinas would be something worth asking the marina about. When it comes to the security and peace of mind from knowing that you and your watercraft are receiving the utmost care, finding the ideal marina should be top priority.

Looking For Boat Dry Storage Marina? A Marina Is Your Best Bet!

Posted: under Travel and Leisure.

Boats offer hours of pleasure to their owners and guests. Boats allow people to access parts of lakes and the coast that people without boats cannot reach. There you can picnic swim or fish in less crowded waters. If your boat is small, then storage may be simple. You just load the boat back onto your trailer and head home for storage. This gives the advantage of being able to take you boat to different lakes in order to launch it. For larger boats, storage is more of a problem and you may need to choose a marina boating.

A wet storage marina can offer many advantages. First and foremost, your boat is ready take out at a moment’s notice. Often wet storage marinas offer electrical power that allows you to keep batteries charged using a battery keeper. While most wet storage marinas do not offer covered storage for your boat, there are some, which do offer this option for smaller boats. Enclosed storage protects your boat from sunlight and many of the elements that may cause the exposed portions of your boat to break down.

Dry Boat Storage Marina also can offer many advantages to the boat owner. Boats are stored in dry conditions, usually inside a garage like structure. The structure offers protection from water damage as well as other damage from the elements. Dry storage will keep the finish and exposed upholstery of your boat looking like new for many years.

Storing your boat in a dry boat storage marina requires that the boat be lifted out of the water. Most dry boat storage marinas offer a crane and track system that allows your boat to be moved into its storage slip. Stacked storage may be offered for smaller boats, but is not practical for boats with large masts. Very large boats may not fit into the facilities offered by dry boat storage marinas.

If your plans include working on the boat while it is in storage, be sure that this option is available to you at your marina. Many marinas restrict their use to storage only. If you do have the option of working on your boat while it is in dry storage, be sure to inspect and repair the parts of your boat that are inaccessible when the boat is in the water. If you need to work on the prop, dry storage time is the perfect time for this work.

The biggest disadvantage to dry boat storage is that the boat must be moved back onto the water each time you want to take it out of storage. It will need to be lifted by crane onto the track and brought back to the water. This means scheduling the launch around the marina’s schedule. In other words, you cannot just drive down to the marina and hop into your boat anytime you wish to. Once the boat is launched it will need to be brought back to a dock to pick up passengers, supplies and luggage.

When choosing a Dry Storage Marina, remember that there are advantages as well as disadvantages to each method of storage. You should make your choice depending on what is best for your way of using your boat. Do you want the convenience of wet storage or would you prefer the security of Dry Boat Storage?

hukech asked:

I sail yachts recreationally and I was wondering what the international law was regarding having guns on board for the reason of self defense in US or international waters?

I plan to circumnavigate the globe in the future and am hoping for expert knowledge from martime lawyers, US coast guard, navy, or maritime security experts.

Effective Advice You Should Use When Choosing Quality Sail Boats

Posted: under Recreation and Sports.

After you make the choice to find out how to sail you’ll need to consider what type of sailboat you would like. There are many differing kinds of sailboats out there. There’ll be benefits and drawbacks of each type. There are several tiny sail boats which are great for beginners in addition to larger boats for more sophisticated sailors. There’ll be a cabin included in some of the larger sailboats. Wet boats will sometimes get you wet nearly every time you are out on the water. You sit on either the deck or the floor with these beginner sailboats. With dry noob sailboats you sit on a seat or a gunwale. These permit you to remain dry unless the weather it wet.

If you have a tendency to get a little frightened out on the water these may be the best shot for you. Cabin sail boats will include either a little cupboard space or full size cabin below the deck. Folk just entering the sport are smart to remain with aship which isn’t too advanced. Smaller boats aren’t less fun that bigger boats and they are much better to sail.

Learning the basics of the sport is less complicated with less ropes and sails to move at the same time. Light winds are perfect for sailing smaller boats. Once you have mastered operating a small sailboat those abilities can be built upon with alarger vessel. The only way to find out how to sail is to start with aship which has only 1 mast and sail.
Many great tiny sailboats fit into this class. Noobs are typically more successful when they use a single hulled boat. Most new sailors prefer fiberglass boats as they’re light-weight and require less maintenance than a wood hull. Sailing is plenty of fun as long as you have got a ship which is the proper size and not too hard to maneuver. Search for all types of sail boats for sale here.
