I possess a licence to sail (may not be very common in other countries!), I have had a couple of months exercise sailing in easy waters, I am planning to start my trip in the Medditerranean

  1. I suggest start smaller and work your way up. Easy waters is one thing. The ocean is a wee bit different. Unless you want to stay on smaller bodies of water.

  2. Round the World is not done lightly. Make a few adventures of more and more technical skill With your Wife. Let her figure out if you can do it together too. Lots to figure on.
Maybe have a few good reading sources on the topic.

But the rewards can be very big. I have a friend that does it. Jean and Scott.

  6. couple things, read robert manry’s tinker belle and robin graham’s dove both good books. id suggests a cruise or something of the like and alot of expirience in a boatyard so you’ll know how to fix things, trust me, where theres a sailboat things will break. learn celestial navagation aswell as gps, its a good skill to have, and make sure your boat is a sea worthy one. i would suggest an ocean going double ender, gaff rigs are good to, gives you more options in a storm.

  7. Go to your nearest library and read all the books by Eric Hiscock who sailed worldwide with his wife Susan for over 40 years. There are literally hundreds of good books available, check out your local library.
