Might be a good book to get and check it out. Sailing a boat around the world is "BIg League" stuff. Lets say you had a dream to play in the big league, as a kid first you would need to have someone explain the basics of softball, or maybe t ball. and you would start at a very basic level adn slowly work up. Same with sailing. Start very basic as simple as you can. You should have many years of sailing under your belt before trying going out in bluewater on big voyages. A sail camp might be a place to get inexpensive lessons then look for a simple protected waters boat to use inshore maybe in a small lake. Always wear your PFD (life jacket). There are sail clubs that have small boats you can use for a fee if you are a member. Go from there, slowly but surely progress. But, usually it only big enough for two people and even then small on such a long trip. I would think a 40 foot and up make for a fairly nice boat. But, I not sure what you want as far as comfort. You need a cruiser and I would want some weight. You not need a light boat for circumnavigation or I not. I looking for around 32 foot +/- with around 10,000 pounds of Displacement. I want a Ketch or Yawl not a sloop, but, if the price is right I buy what get me the most for my money. I get you a few links to read. I just wanted you to see this, just follow the red line, Ha!
