  8. Four premier steamer trunks, two brass Coleman lanterns, a violin case bar, an umbrella, a portable putting green, A shaving kit, and a world band radio. They will all come in handy if the ship goes down in a storm.

  10. That depends if it is your boat, and where it is to be sailed. Of course the sailboat needs to be equipped with an anchor, ship to shore radio, flashlights, spare bulbs and batteries, and a good first aid kit.
One very important thing not to forget with your personal gear is sunblock. I would bring sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat. Also maybe a windbreaker for the cool breezes. Always remember to be safe with the weather and don’t take chances. You will always remember something later you should like to have brought, but hopefully it is a minor problem. Hope this helps!

  11. Good Question!!!

Life Jacket - Always Wear it when out Sailing
    First Aid Kit
    Food & Water
    Clothes and Warm Blankets
Emergency Kit - Every Sailor should have one OnBoard.

Be sure to have those Items OnBoard. Its for your own Safety.

    Good Luck!!!!

  12. A lot depends on where you will be sailing and what type of sailing.
Tropics, cool or cold water? Gunkholing or blue water.
I was in the Pacific off of Panama in February and I needed long johns at night to stay warm because of the cold water current we were in.
Ask the skipper for suggestions, but I would suggest layers and some good foul weather gear with boots. Once clothes get wet, it is difficult to dry them (particularly if it is salt water) (or unless you are on a boat with a washer/dryer setup. Have loose fitting light colored long sleeves and pants for sun protection.
Sun block and hat with a leash to keep it from getting blown overboard and SUNGLASSES. A lot of light reflects off the water. Sunburn relief ointment.
I am assuming the boat is equiped with an emergency first aid kit and we are only considering personal medications. If you are on any prescriptions, bring them, and extra, particularly if they are life critical.
Medicine for seasickness. Not sure what is best, but being seasick is extremely uncomfortable and debilitating.
Where are you sailing? For some parts of the world you need to have vaccinations and should take medicine to prevent things like malaria. Are biting insects going to be an issue?
Are you going to be going ashore in places where you might need to dress up? If not, leave the fancy duds home.
Some books to read and a deck of cards. A cd, dvd player or laptop; ipod/personal radio for personal entertainment.
Bring a camera and a notebook or something else to write in.
    Bring money.
For certain parts of the world fins, mask and snorkel are a great way to enjoy the underwater wonders. It is nice to have a rash guard and/or body skin for warm water and wetsuit for colder water.
This is by no means a complete list, but should be good for a start.
